Presentation of PMI Impact project in the Conference “Organized crime in Bulgaria: The new challenges for the specialized jurisdictions”

On 13 November 2018 prof. Dimitar Dimitrov took part in the Conference “Organized crime in Bulgaria: The new challenges to specialized jurisdictions”. The event was organized by the Justice Development Foundation. The topics presented during the conference were: the types of criminal associations and their recognition and differentiation in the case law, the judicial response to organized crime phenomena not covered by the law, as well as in legal contradictions and gaps, criminal leadership, criminal structures, expertise, investigative and prosecution practices and peculiarities of court proceedings, topical trends in organized crime, incl. trafficking in human beings and the illicit markets of tobacco products. Representatives of other legal professions, non-governmental organizations, academic circles, the National Assembly, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Interior, the Supreme Judicial Council, the National Commission for Combating the Traffic of Human Beings also took part at the event.

Prof. Dimitrov presented the topic “Trends in the organized contraband of illicit cigarettes” in which he introduces the project Contraband and Counterfeit Risk Identification (Business process analysis and Spatial aspect) to the audience.

The conference was very interesting and fruitful and definitely a good opportunity for future cooperation with institutions, NGOs and experts in the development of the research activities in the framework of the project
