Assoc. Prof. Georgi Penchev took part in the First Regional High Level Dialogue on Illicit Trade in South Eastern Europe

On the 5th and 6th of December 2018, Assoc. Prof. Georgi Penchev took part in the First Regional High Level Dialogue on Illicit Trade in South Eastern Europe. Assoc. Prof. Penchev presented the activities and results of the project implemented by UNWE with the leading Department of National and Regional Security – Contraband & Counterfeit Risk Identification (Business Process Analysis and Spatial Aspect) financed by PMI IMPACT,a global initiative by Philip Morris International to fight illegal trade and related crimes.
The dialogue is organized under the SEE-IMPACT project, funded also by PMI IMPACT, and implemented by the International Syracuse Institute. The aim of the Dialogue is to present the problems related to the illicit trade in the region of Southeast Europe and to
served as a forum for their discussion at political and administrative level.
At the political level, the ministers and deputy ministers from the countries in the region participated in the event, and at the administrative level the dialogue took place at the level of directors of directorates and experts from the administration. The representatives of the countries discussed the problems of illicit trade in two parallel round tables – at political and at administrative level. Representatives and experts from the countries in the region as well as representatives of interested international institutions – Interpol, OECD, Europol and SELEC also participated in the overall presentation and discussions.
