The third class of the international master’s program “Nuclear Security” is graduating

On July 2, 2019 The third class of Masters in Nuclear Security graduated from the Department of National and Regional Security at the University of National and World Economy.

The jury was composed of the Chairman, Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov, Dean of the Faculty of Economics of Infrastructure ”and Head of the Department of National and Regional Security, as well as Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tsvetan Tsvetkov and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Konstantin Pudin, who conducted the defense successfully. The entire class of 2017-2019 defended their master’s theses excellently.

The diplomas of the masters were presented at an official ceremony in the Ceremonial Hall of the University of National and World Economy. The celebration was attended by the Rector of UNWE, Prof. D.Sc. Prof. Stati Statev, as well as other official guests – Ms. Emilia Kraleva, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Rumen Petkov, former Minister of Interior, Mr. Dimitar Galabov, Executive Director of Sutherland Global Services (Bulgaria ), the Ambassadors of the Republic of South Africa, the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Kingdom of Morocco, Mr. Stanislav Georgiev from BULATOM, the Mayor of the “Student” Region Mr. Dimitar Dilchev, Chief Assistant Dr. Ekaterina Bogomilova – program coordinator, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Noncho Dimitrov – Scientific Secretary of the Department, as well as many teachers, friends, guests and relatives of the department and students.

Professor Dimitrov opened with introductory words, introducing the official guests to the audience and especially thanked the Rector of UNWE, Prof. D.Sc. Stati Statev, for his constant support and reminded that he was the first person to present our program to our partners from the IAEA in 2015.

Professor Dimitrov stressed the importance of the master’s program in Nuclear Security as well as its uniqueness in the world and said that despite the difficulties, with the help of the university management, the third class is already successfully graduating and the 5th cycle of admission of new candidates .
Professor Statev addressed everyone with a congratulatory address and said that the past five years are indicative of the fact that the master’s program is already beginning to establish itself as a tradition for both the department and the university. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Kraleva, who also stressed the importance of quality education and the program. She wished success to all graduates.

The Sutherland representative also congratulated the students and said that Sutherland’s support was a fact, precisely because their company believes that there should be a sustainable relationship and partnership between business and higher education.

Prof. Dimitrov also gave the floor to Mr. Stanislav Georgiev, Executive Secretary of the Bulgarian Atomic Forum, which organization is also an established partner and sponsor of the master’s program in Nuclear Security. Mr. Georgiev greeted the students and reminded that from now on they should work even harder and should not stop developing and improving.

The program continued with a festive cocktail party, during which the masters, the teaching staff and the official guests celebrated together the successful graduation of the next class of masters, majoring in Nuclear Security.[:]
