About the Centre

The Nuclear Security Support Centre (NSCC) was created in 2016 as a Basic Service Unit of the University of National and World Economy (UNWE) according to Art. 25, para. 3 of the Law on Higher Education and Art. 16, para. 1 of the Rules of the UNWE.

The main objectives of the Nuclear Security Support Centre are as follows:

  • to support scientific research;
  • to develop and implement training of practitioners, lecturers and trainers in the field of Nuclear Security;
  • to develop knowledge and skills through research, education and traing in the field of Nuclear Security;
  • to provide support for and to disseminate good practices and standards in science, training and business in Bulgaria in the field of Nuclear Security;
  • to provide assistance for knowledge transfer in the field of Nuclear Security for Higher Education at national and international level.

The NSSC is a part of the International Network for Nuclear Security Training and Support Centres.

The NSSC coordinates its activities with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and International Nuclear Security Education Network (INSEN). With support of these two organisations Department of National and Regional Security launched in 2015 a Master’s Programme in Nuclear Security developed according to the requirements of the IAEA.
